it wasn't such a bad thing after all, and it certainly was a lot of fun. instead of honduras, we visited david and jana this past weekend.
it started out very innocent. we stopped off in madisonville, about 1 hour outside of houston, to hang out at david's ranch. we rode around on this thing looking at the land and the cows, and sofia fished. we didn't stay long, it was HOT!
4th of july and new years are david's favorite holidays for the sole reason that you can play with fire. he and sofia had fun in the backyard with smoke bombs, sparklers, snaps, etc, while stella introduced herself to the stairs. we've managed to keep her away from our stairs, but david's are perfectly situated in the middle of their living room.
on saturday, the babysitter came at 1:00pm. poor megan. david gave megan more caretaking directions for pity pat (his 2 pound chihuahua) than i gave her for my 2 girls.
it was at this moment when the innocence was discontinued.
yes that's david's truck - thanks to gustavo who picked up this fine piece of car art from the truck stop.
and jana paying special tribute to our fine country.
and things continued to go down such a path.....
how could it not? gustavo/denise, david/jana, adam/katherine (college friends) went to willie nelson's 4th of july picnic with featured artists: Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Los Lonely Boys, Asleep At The Wheel, David Allan Coe, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Billy Joe Shaver.
if you like people watching, this event was for you. we really stood out because we had on clothes, and we did not have tatoos.
an example of the people watching - the girl to the right of the budweiser bottle....she got too hot, so she just took her shirt off (that's her bra). best part, she was with her mother and 8 year old (who was cooling off by drinking coke out of a water gun).
not pictured was a guy without his shirt on with LARGE angel wings tatooed just above his nipples. also, LOTS of willie nelson-like braids. but not the real deal, a wig.
the night ended back at the house. yes, gustavo and i bit the bullet....we bought the wii and took it on our trip. the first game we purchased....american idol, duh! and here's a little taste...sorry for the bad lighting....this is david with guest appearance by jana....
thanks for a great weekend! click here for more pictures.

i just called some random telephone number and voted for David.......20 times.
Looks like fun! glad you had a good one!
wow, i thought we had all the rednecks here in pennsylvania. the bra lady is great, especially with the 8 yr. child. looks like you had a great weekend after all, sorry to hear about your trip to honduras, that will all resolve itself shortly, i'm sure. also the video of ami is better then the actual show ( of which i don't watch) but would start if it was like that.
Looks like a you all had a blast! So happy that you were able to make the best of your originally sad start. I watched the video twice, too funny. Thanks for sharing that!
SHUT UP! you bought american idol? okay, plan change for thursday night out with the girls. i'll boot out the boys and we'll wii our brains out! woohoo!
i'm jealous. there's nothing better than trashy people watching. have you ever been to a nascar race? holy crap - very similar to the scene you described at the concert. can't imagine a situation in which i'd decide to just take off my shirt. wow.
That's AWESOME! I was hoping to see some pictures from Willie's concert. I'm surprised you could aim the camera. Seeing Gustavo try to "walk the line" is hilarious.
OMG! what fun you had! i wish i would've been with you but we were having concerts of our own in the backyard of 126 park. we tuned into sirius classic rewind and sang every song at the top of our lungs. a fun 4th for all! xoxox-b
I came back to watch the video again and, this time, I looked at your additional photos...looks like there was an excessive amount of fun in the parking lot, too. I'm still laughing at the video...I'll be back for more.
okay so do they not give you the words to the song you're supposed to be singing on american idol? because he got about 1 out of 12. HILARIOUS!
First off...Willie and te "old" 4th of July picnic in Luckenbach was a mainstay in my younger days (really younger days)...we even had to bail one of our friends out of jail for having "Willie-like" material in his back-pack. Nothing like bailing someone out of the Gillespie County jail at 1 am. Wish I would have been there...I would have proudly sported my fake braids and bra...complete with the post-pardum belly! ATTRACTIVE...oh no...I think I threw up in my mouth.
