cinco, stella, and i go for a walk last night. as usual, we bump into the neighbor that volunteers to patrol the neighborhood for security. he drives 2mph down all streets and alleys. i appreciate his service. if i had to describe him, i would say he was in his early 50s and a retired surfer. he talks to all neighbors out for a walk and drives along them (at 2mph) as they walk. i spoke with him a couple of days ago, and we spoke about how blistering hot it was that day. last night the conversation went like this:

denise: it's kind of nice out this evening.

neighbor: dude, i got up at 5am, watched the rain on my front porch, then went back to bed and slept in until 9am.

denise: wow, wish i could do that (pointing down to stella).

neighbor: dude. be wise, don't adopt.
