gustavo might just get his wish! sofia has officially stated that she is ready for futbol. kids can play soccer as young as 2. that would have been a TOTAL DISASTER for sofia. age 3, also would have been a disaster. age 4, she didn't want to and we didn't push it. she's almost 5, and she says she's ready to play. her big concern was that she did not want to get out, as in baseball. we've explained that you don't get tagged out, but you do take rests on the sidelines.
she loves watching the GOL TV channel with gustavo, she loves kicking around the ball with gustavo....she's actually not bad. she says she's a great "dribbler", but i think she needs to work on her ball control. don't ever tell her i said that. she even, and this is HUGE, chooses to wear her honduran olimpia soccer uniform that she received as a gift from tio juanqui. she wears it when she's playing soccer with gustavo, and she even wears it to bed sometimes. this is huge because i can't remember the last time she has worn anything but a gown to bed.
we haven't signed her up yet. we'll wait for the fall, but until then i hope she and gustavo will have fun playing this summer. vamos a ver!

I love this post...the pics got me to thinking...
pic 1 - there she is with all her future hopes & dreams in her hand, ready to take 'em on and holding them up high.
pic 2 - sometimes the world can get under foot and you have to dribble a lot and lean to the side for a little support.
stadium pic - no matter what, in either scenario, there will be as many people that are in that stadium (and then some!) that are behind her all the way!

My wife and daughters amaze me everyday. It's the little things that they do or say. This post is a perfect example. Denise doesn't realize this but the picture she found on the internet is one of the most exciting games I have ever watched Honduras play. It's the Mexico-Honduras game for the Gold Cup 07. Honduras won that game 2-1 in the last second, that is as big as when A&M beat Texas last year....scratch that, it was bigger. And then Sofia, she likes soccer and she really is good at it. I wonder if she really likes it or she does it because she knows I like, nonetheless she makes me happy. Stella likes to watch soccer with me too. They all make me happy in little ways. Thanks.
i can't believe how big she's gotten!!!! she's gorgeous. keep her away from henry - for your own sake.
she looks like a little mia hamm. bring her over. she and crockett can kick at his goals all day long.
by the way, dave says that while he may not look forward to the drive up to frisco, he would enjoy watching the games once he got there.
I really hope we can get Ry and Sophia together one day. Ryan also LOVES soccer. Maybe we can have a Honduras v. Italia game when the day finally comes.
she's beautiful and i am so thrilled to see her embracing soccer...she looks like an absolute natural. maybe she'll go to the olympics one day and i can live through her!
